Details

* A stand-alone brake bleeder that uses vacuum to “suck” the fluid out

* An ability to remove the brake fluid from the master cylinder by sucking it out of the filler. This means that fluid changes are far quicker as not all the fluid needs to be bled via a nipple

* No need to have a pressure tight seal on those difficult to get to master cylinder reservoirs

* By “sucking” the fluid away risk of sudden spillage is significantly reduced

* Uses standard work shop compressed air supply to generate vacuum (70 – 170 psi )

Often, hydraulic brake and clutch system design will be the deciding factor as to whether the technician needs to use a vacuum or pressure bleeder.

When combined with the Sykes automatic brake filler unit the Vacuum Brake bleeder makes brake and clutch system bleeding a genuine one man operation.

Instructions: changing fluid with the SP 03480000

1. Connect the 03480000 unit to the air supply (max. pressure 170PSi) via the air quick  adapter.
2. Remove the reservoir filler cap from the master cylinder.
3. Using the 03480000 as a “vacuum cleaner” remove the old fluid from the reservoir.
4. To do this, place the rubber connector in the fluid and depress the air control operating  lever.
5. Refill the reservoir and fit the SP auto filler unit 03481100 (if available).
6. Clean the bleed nipple and remove any dirt or grit deposits with a wire brush.
7. Fit the bleed nipple connector ensuring the rubber connector is pushed firmly over the bulbous part of the nipple.
8. Depress the air-control operating lever and lock down with clip.
9. Allow vacuum to build up for 10 seconds before opening the nipple by about ¼ to ½ a turn.
10. Allow the fluid to run through the system for 15 seconds before closing the nipple. Longer if the system has been completely drained.
11. Do not be misled into thinking that the presence of air in the transparent tube indicates air in the hydraulic system. This can be due to air being drawn past the threads of the nipple.
12. Close the nipple with the vacuum still applied to ensure no air is drawn back into the system.
13. Repeat the procedure for all wheel nipples.
14. Remove the SP auto filler unit 03481100 (if fitted) and top up reservoir.
